Kea Parrot Has an Appetite for Flesh

Sheep in New Zealand have a foe in an unexpected and sometimes lethal winged predator. The kea is the world’s only alpine parrot with an appetite for flesh.

  3. North America has bears, South America has snakes, Africa has lions, Australia has crocodiles, New Zealand has killer parrots XD

  4. The parrots are cute especially the sounds. I have no problem with them eating the sheep flesh. It's just about survival. If they cannot find something to eat. It will be hard to survive in places like this. Animals complete the wild. Just deal with it when seeing something like this.

  5. Unfortunately this video showed Kea in a really bad light. They are actually extremely intelligent and generally trusting parrots. Sheep were introduced to the area and desperate Kea got a taste for them after finding and eating dead sheep. The Kea were shot like they were pests until there were very few left. The video also wrongly stated that they were carnivorous when they are omnivorous. Kea learned that they could eat the fat off sheep but not all Kea do that. They are really cool if you get to know more about them. :)
