Double Yellow Headed Amazon vs. Rattle, One Dies!!!
From no toys and 36 years locked in a loney cage to freedom and the lap of luxury life. I adopted Jake from a local rescue Nov 2022. This is our journey.
Jake eats an organic, pelleted diet with fresh fruit and veggie chop and other healthy whole foods. He is a wonderful, smart bird.

This is the story of a 36 year old amazon parrot that came to the local shelter/rescue after his owners died. He had lived in a cage his entire life, never been tamed or trained, never had toys and was afraid of hands. His joints were stiff and very weak from lack of use. Despite all of this he was a gentle and very sweet boy. He had lived at the rescue for a year before I found him. He was quite depressed. I began to visit him every day the rescue was open and work with him. The videos in this playlist are the results.
I have kept large hook billed parrots for over 40+ years. I know how they think and how they process information. I believe in a gentle training method that respects each birdβs individuality and space. I let them come to me. I use positive reinforcement only and build trust and friendship bonds at their pace. My goals are to enrich lives, expand horizons and confidence in the parrots I work withβ¦.one step at a time.
