Many parrots in captivity become “one person birds” which is something we try to avoid by teaching people our 60/40 rule, explained best here; https://birdtricksstore.com/collections/behaviors-and-training/products/family-friendly-parrot-formula-2

The only other advice I'd give her is: Don't be afraid to educate the other humans in your life. Not only with the target training, but people (non bird owners) often expect birds to behave like their dog or cat but birds are very different. They are more independent and intelligent, and things need to be more on their terms – you can't force your will on a bird and expect it to like you. This is something bird owners know intuitively, but family and friends may not see the difference themselves due to their interactions being more limited.

Do you have any tips on building up feet strength? My new quaker was kept in a box with no perches and her feet arent very strong when it comes to perching because of it.

She also picks at our skin. She doesn't seem to want to hurt us but it does pinch sometimes and I want to teach her to stop but I don't want my hands to become negative.

Target training is the best since popcorn!!!! Really, it works magic. My Eclectus is target trained and it’s amazing what we can get him to do with this. Great video!! Love you guys!!

      If
My mccaw, grey and conure have all been trained your way. What I have learned is to ask your bird do you want to engage with me? Respect them and you build the trust….love you guys and look forward to every video. Tried loads of your amazing recipes from your cookbooks they are awesome. Just waiting for you to come to Bonnie scotland!!!!! Pleaseeeeee…x

I love these real life videos where we can see others go through the learning steps with their birds. Thanks so much!

    • Nixicated

      I looove this video! ❤❤❤
I love how smart and trainable they are! 😱😍
Question for all you eccy lovers/owners here! 😊

By the owners description, would you say most female eccies act this way or eccies in general or is this behaviour atypical for an eccy?

I've been trying to find out as much as I can about their characteristics as pets and also is there a difference, how ever small, between males and females.
If anybody has a good page, youtube video or book to recommend, pls do
      Thank you 🤗
